Puff Daddy, Faith Evans,

Lil Kim is upset with the upcoming Notorious B.I.G. biopic film, Notorious, and as ever she isn’t afraid to speak her mind.

The rapper issued a public statement Wednesday in which she claims that the film studio overlooked her personal experiences with Christopher Wallace (aka Biggie Smalls) in favour of a ‘false portrayal’ of her as a ‘character’ that better suited the film’s story line.

But Biggie’s mother, Violetta Wallace, isn’t having any of it. She shot back that the film has “nothing to do with Lil Kim. If she’s disappointed and upset, that is her problem.”

Ouch!

Notorious is scheduled to hit theatres on January 16, 2009.

“The film studio and producers involved were more concerned about painting me as a ‘character’ to create a more interesting story line instead of a person with talent, self-respect and who was able to achieve her own career success through hard work.

“Even though my relationship with Big was at times very difficult and complicated (as with most relationships we have all experienced at one time or another), it was also genuine and built on great admiration and love for each other. Regardless of the many lies in the movie and false portrayal of me to help carry a story line through, I will still continue to carry his legacy through my hard work and music.”

Biggie Smalls’ mother Violetta Wallace commented on Lil Kim’s accusations:

“This is not a Lil Kim movie,” she said. “This is a Christopher Wallace movie. It has nothing to do with Lil Kim. If she’s disappointed and upset, that is her problem.”

This has been in the works for a while, but Blockbuster is expected to make an official announcement on Wednesday that the movie rental company will begin renting and selling movies online — across a variety of platforms, players, and mobile devices.

Netflix is already a few steps ahead in this game but this could put Blockbuster back in competition for the soon-to-be lucrative online video rental business.

Following the lead of competitor Netflix Inc., Blockbuster Inc. plans to expand its digital reach by offering access to its video library through a variety of electronic devices.

The Dallas-based movie-rental company is expected to announce Wednesday a partnership with Sonic Solutions Inc. to offer movies for rent and for sale on a variety of broadband-connected digital devices, including personal computers, mobile phones, Internet-connected televisions and Blu-ray disc players.
