SNL’s Andy Samberg ‘Lonely Island’ Album Cover and Tracklist

without comments

Andy Samberg’s ever-infamous sketch comedy and musical parody talents have brought new digital life to SNL and caused much hilarity, uproar and internet fan fervour to his recent classics such as the smash single “Jizz in My Pants”, the now infamous holiday treat “Dick in a Box”, the hilariously underrated SNL sketch  “Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals”, and the bizarro sex-rap tune “Stork Patrol”.

Now, Samberg and his group The Lonely Island are getting set to unleash their debut full-length album of comedic music: Incredibad on February 10th.

The album will feature big name musical guests including: T-Pain, Justin Timberlake, and Norah Jones among others — but, wait a minute — Andy Samberg is dating Joanna Newsom and she’s not appearing on the record?

Who will perform all of the harp solos?

The Lonely Island, the comedy team of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, gave Pitchfork a great exclusive interview a few weeks ago and now they’ve dropped the official album cover and tracklist for their debut comedy record, Incredibad.

Notable guests include Norah Jones, Julian Casablancas, T-Pain, Justin Timberlake, and Jack Black, but no sign of Samberg’s girlfriend Joanna Newsom. Here’s the tracklist:

Incredibad CD:

01 Who Said We’re Wack?
02 Santana DVX [ft. E-40]
03 Jizz in My Pants
04 I’m on a Boat [ft. T-Pain]

06 Lazy Sunday [ft. Chris Parnell]
07 Normal Guy (Interlude)
08 Boombox [ft. Julian Casablancas]
09 Shrooms (Interlude)

11 We Like Sportz
12 Dreamgirl [ft. Norah Jones]
13 Ras Trent
14 Dick in a Box [ft. Justin Timberlake]
15 The Old Saloon (Mix Tape Edit) (Interlude)

Not content to conquer the worlds of rap and pop simultaneously, hip-hop superstar Lil Wayne is now rumoured to be recording an album of rock & roll.

Weezy has apparently drawn inspiration from by Kanye West’s recent ‘808s & Autotune’ excursion into emo-pop that came out late last year — but we can only speculate how Lil Weezy’s singing voice might fare without that signature “robot-voice” effect.

And we already know what his guitar playing is like.

According to up-and-coming Canadian hip-hop artist Drake, Lil Wayne has been hard at work on a rock-oriented follow-up to last year’s blockbuster Tha Carter III. “Wayne’s coming out with a new album, it’s a rock album. A complete rock album,” Drake said, before explaining his new direction was partially inspired by Kanye West’s ambitious new record, 808s and Heartbreak.

Don’t believe the hype, folks: Led Zeppelin will not be recording any new material or heading out on tour, with or without Robert Plant.

According to Jimmy Page’s manager the band are officially “over”.

Despite rumors over past months that the remaining members of Led Zeppelin would record new material and tour after replacing frontman Robert Plant, “Led Zeppelin are over,” said Jimmy Page’s manager to MusicRadar. “If you didn’t see them in 2007, you missed them. It’s done. I can’t be any clearer than that.”

There had been suggestions that the band might look for a Plant replacement and head out on tour regardless, but now it seems that those rumours are not to be believed.

Perhaps it is time to lay the Led to rest?

This comes just after contradictory news on Wednesday that Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham were ready to move on without Plant, according to statements by Page’s manager, Peter Mensch, to BBC 6 Music.

After Plant opted out of a rumored 2009 tour with the band, speculation began that Led Zeppelin would go on without him, perhaps even with Alter Bridges’ Myles Kennedy stepping up to the mic.

2009 Golden Globe Awards Set for Star-Studded Return Sunday

Roll out the Hollywood red carpet and break out the glitz, glamour, and paparazzi flashbulbs — the Golden Globe Awards are back in action for 2009.

After last year’s incredibly mundane GG award ceremony which, due to the Hollywood Writers Guild strike, amounted to little more than a glorified “press conference” hosted by a slew of B-grade, TV entertainment reporters, anything would be an improvement.

This year’s awards ceremony, which will be telecast live on Sunday night at 8pm EST on NBC, already boasts a long list of Hollywood heavyweights who will be in attendance.

In addition to the many nominees, other presenters will include:

Scheduled presenters include the Jonas Brothers, Hayden Panettiere, Martin Scorsese, Simon Baker, Drew Barrymore, Sacha Baron Cohen, Salma Hayek, Jessica Lange, Jennifer Lopez, Amy Poehler and Seth Rogen, as well as Ricky Gervais, who provided one of the few bright moments during last September’s dreary Emmycast.

And, virtually guaranteeing things don’t get dreary or parched, an open bar for the guests is part of the formula.

Ah yes, the open bar — that’s always good for ratings and a subtle guarantee of tear-filled acceptance speeches as the night wears on.

To refresh your memory, here’s a quick recap of last year’s Golden Globe snooze-fest:

A year ago, of course, the famously rollicking ceremony was caught up in the strike by Hollywood writers, who vowed to picket if it aired.

The plug was pulled on Adelman’s extravaganza just days before the big night. What NBC aired instead was an hourlong laundry list of winners, read aloud by the co-hosts of “Access Hollywood.”

No stars! No glitz! No service to fans of the annual Globes gala. No wonder just 5.8 million of them watched the bare-bones substitute, less than one-third its audience in 2007.

That was then. The Globes will be revived for viewers Sunday at 8 p.m. EST, with NBC airing the festivities live from the celebrity-packed ballroom of the Beverly Hilton hotel.
